Recap of the Previous Chapter

We learned in the previous chapter that Katagiri Yuuichi would not be the victor, or at least it appeared that way. The rules of this “Friend-less Game” state that the victor will be the player who receives the most votes at the end. Even though Yuuichi has the ability to manipulate people in any way he sees fit, none of these identities are required to win support.

They begin questioning one another to determine who to trust, and the game begins. Yuuichi stands firm on his accusation that Shiba Shinji is the murderer. Since his belief is counterintuitive, he explains why he holds it. Someone who is not Haragawa Sora’s ally asks him why he did what Yuuichi told him to do. She claims she would rather remain silent than respond to such inquiries.

At this point, Yutori’s haughtiness becomes apparent. Sora warns Yutori that she can’t believe a word that comes out of her mouth, but Yutori dismisses her concerns, saying that she is just a nobody without her shining knight’s armor. The situation becomes hot and sticky. Everyone is now wary of one another. The trustworthiness of any individual is unknown. Koko-Rogi San’s sanity begins to fray.

Friend Less Game

Yuuichi’s staging of the entire event with Kawauchi Tarou, the lone remaining survivor in hiding, seems to be the most likely explanation at this point. The life of that elderly man appears to have been anything from typical. A closer examination of some events, such as his temporary disappearance while Yuuchi burned down the lodge and his treatment of Araya Nagi’s injuries that Yuuichi undoubtedly caused, seems to show a collaboration with Yuuichi.

As the final four days of the ‘Friend-less Game’ draw to a close, Satone expresses regret that he won’t be present in person to witness history. If they ever get the chance to converse again, they will do so as friends.
