Jim Harbaugh grew up with an elder brother, John, and a younger sister, Joani Harbaugh.
The Harbaugh siblings were born to their father, Jack, a football coach, and mother, Jacqueline M. Cipiti.
The two brothers became professional coaches, while their sister did not pursue a career in sports.

James Joseph Harbaugh, born December 23, 1963, is a former American quarterback and Michigan Wolverines football coach.
After an impressive collegiate career, he started his professional football career after the Chicago Bears picked him in the first round of the 1987 NFL draft.
In his 14-year-long NFL career, Jim played with the Chicago Bears (1987-1993), Indianapolis Colts (1994-1997), Baltimore Ravens (1998), and San Diego Chargers (1999-2000).
Following his professional playing career as a quarterback, he started working as a quarterback coach for the Oakland Raiders in 2002.
Later, he served as the head coach for several colleges and the San Francisco 49ers of the NFL before taking his current job at Michigan in 2015.
The 2011 NFL Coach of the Year has won several accolades, including the Big Ten Championships (2021, 2022), Big Ten East Division Championships (2018, 2021, 2022) and Big Ten Coach of the Year (2022).

John William Harbaugh, born September 23, 1962, is an American football coach and the head coach for the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL.
The Pioneer High School alumnus attended Miami University and played football for the varsity football team.
Upon graduation in 1984, he started working as a running backs coach and outside linebackers at Western Michigan.
In 1987, he took on the tight ends coach position at the University of Pittsburgh. Later, he worked as a special team coach and coordinator for Morehead State, Cincinnati, and Indiana.
Ending his college coaching journey, John started serving as a special teams coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL in 1998 and later became a defensive backs coach in 2007.
The 2019 AP NFL Coach of the Year was appointed as the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens in 2008 and won the XLVII Super Bowl against his brother, Jim’s San Francisco 49ers.

Growing up in a family with a football background, she played volleyball and softball but did not pursue any sports professionally.
Moreover, Joani got married to Tom Crean, a college basketball coach. They share three children, Megan, Riley and Ainsley.
